Breakfast with the Zoo Animals


Families in Northern Virginia have a wide choice of zoos, sanctuaries, and farms to visit. However, there are often opportunities at more regional zoos that make the drive worth it. The Maryland Zoo has a wonderful series called Breakfast with the Animals that includes a one-of-a-kind al fresco dining experience next to zoo animals, special keeper chats, education stations, photo opportunities, and take-away gifts to remember your early morning experience.

Formerly known as The Baltimore Zoo, this animal park boasts 1,500 animals including penguins, polar bears, and an array of reptiles, amphibians, and birds. Additional animal experiences such as camel rides, a carousel, and various interactive events are also available for a nominal fee. The Maryland Zoo is open daily from early March through December and select days in January and February (weather-dependent).
