Chincoteague Island Pony Swim

CalendarJuly Events

What’s better than a pony? Well, a pony swim, of course! Come and behold the Saltwater Cowboys on July 26, 2017, as they guide a beautiful herd of wild ponies from Assateague Island to Chincoteague Island in a majestic pony swim — the highlight of a week full of festivities to commemorate this 92nd annual event.

The rest of the week will feature two pony herd roundups, a beach walk, pony vet checks, a pony parade, and pony auction. The Chincoteague Fireman’s Carnival will also be going on every night from 7 to 11 pm. And Misty of the Chincoteague will be playing during the week at the Island Theater for free (first-come, first served). Caution: This event will likely prompt plenty of pony requests, but it’s worth it!
