Fun House at the NBM

The National Building Museum’s (NBM) latest temporary structure, Fun House, is now open until September 3, 2018, for all to enjoy, interact with, and admire!

This huge, freestanding Snarkitecture-designed structure recalls and re-imagines the idea of the traditional home. Fun House includes a sequence of interactive rooms featuring well-known Snarkitecture environments and objects that convey the ten-year story of Snarkitecture while underlining the studio’s peculiar, yet accessible, way of reinterpreting the built environment.

Guests can find this structure in the Great Hall, with entrances and exits dedicated to previous NBM creations, including an homage to “The Beach,” featuring a kidney-shaped pool filled with thousands of plastic balls! And yes, guests are invited to jump in for a “swim!”

Admission to Fun House (online, pre-purchase recommended) includes general admission to the National Building Museum. While the Museum isn’t initially thought of as a kid-friendly destination, it is definitely one of our area’s hidden treasures, offering many kid-friendly, touch-and-play exhibits and opportunities.
