Highlights Tours at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum

Calendar > Scout Events & Opportunities > In Partnership with Scouting Events & Activities in NOVA

As a unique way for Scouts to see the best places of interest at the National Postal Museum, enjoy one of the many Highlights Tours hosted throughout each month! Offered regularly, each tour is approximately 45-minutes long and covers many of the “don’t-miss” exhibits throughout the museum. Tours are led by museum docents and typically no reservations are required; however, it is wise to call ahead with a pre-planned large group. Tours are free, as well as admission to the museum. For more information, including event times and dates, please click here for the full calendar.

As one of Washington, DC’s hidden gems, The National Postal Museum is dedicated to delivering information on postal history and Philately (the study and collection of stamps), while providing all visitors with a most unique and family-friendly experience! Adults and children of all ages will love the transportation exhibits, featuring the Concord Mail Coach, Balloon Jupiter Flight, CSS Florida, de Havilland DH-4, and more. Youth will especially enjoy the interactive exhibits and the opportunity to learn how the US mail system works. The Museum also boasts The William H. Gross Stamp Gallery — a collection of hundreds of pullout frames containing more than 20,000 objects, providing ample opportunities to view noteworthy stamps that have never been on public display.

In addition to Highlight Tours, the museum offers many regular and seasonal opportunities, too. Plus, admission is always free, so plan your visit today! The Smithsonian National Postal Museum is located at 2 Massachusetts Ave. NE, Washington, DC 20002. Connect Online | Facebook | Twitter | (202) 633-5555.
