Joey Pizzano Memorial Family Fun Day

The community is invited to the Joey Pizzano Memorial Family Fun Day on September 8, 2018!

This is your chance to view and enjoy the new lighthouse, sunken dinghy, anchor, and aqua sprayers added in 2018 to Our Special Harbor Spray Park! Located at Lee District Park, Our Special Harbor Spray Park is a unique and accessible water play destination for families with children of all ages.

The new features are the funded by the Joey Pizzano Memorial Fund (JPMF). JPMF is a non-profit charitable organization the Pizzanos started to honor the memory of their 6-year-old son, Joey, a child with developmental disabilities who died in an accidental drowning in 1998. JPMF’s contributions through the Fairfax County Park Foundation continue to honor Joey’s love of water by providing opportunities for other families to enjoy water play together in a safe environment.

For safety, children (15 years and younger) enjoying the spray park, MUST wear aquatic shoes or sandals with a manufactured back strap at all times; non-standing, non-mobile, babies are exempt; adults may wear flip-flops instead of aquatic shoes or sandals with a manufactured back strap. Street shoes are NOT PERMITTED in the spray park.

While at Lee District Park, don’t forget to check out Chessie’s BIG Backyard, adjacent to the spray park, as well as Chessie’s Trail, the Tree House, and Carousel!
