Step out of the 21st century and travel back in time to meet and greet King Henry VIII and his royal court at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. An annual event, this festival recreates a 16th-century English village and is a popular outdoor event for the whole family with music, pageantry, and magic at every corner. Stroll down the wooded path, take a break at a local pub, treat your taste buds to a feast of foods, and shop at more than 140 unique handicraft stores.

More than 200 performers from all over the country entertain at the festival’s many stages and the streets are filled with musicians, jugglers, artists, and people from the King’s royal court. And for smaller lads and lassies there are pony rides, archery, and juggling lessons. Plus, don’t miss the maze, pirate ship, play area, knighting ceremony, and a sing-along theatre production.

Located in Anne Arundel County, just outside of Annapolis, MD, opening day is August 26, 2017, and the festival continues for 9 weekends, up until October 22, 2017. Don’t miss Children’s Weekend on August 26 and 27, when kids age 15 and under are admitted free (with an accompanying adult ticket purchase).

Visit the festival’s customer service pavilion upon arrival for a more detailed schedule of all the shows and performances for the day. This information will also be available online closer to the festival’s opening day.

The festival is located at 1821 Crownsville Rd., Annapolis, MD 21401. Connect: Online | Facebook | Twitter.
