More than 100 authors, illustrators, and presenters will descend upon the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on September 2, 2017, for a day full of literary entertainment. Free and open to the public, the Library of Congress National Book Festival is always a family favorite! Hosted by the Library of Congress, the festival includes trivia sessions, appearances by National Student Poets, panel discussions, and plenty of additional programs for all ages. Whether fiction, history, poetry, contemporary life, or more, there will be something to do… or read… all day long!

Worried about what there is for your little readers to do? Have no fear! The book festival provides a day full of book readings and activities with many children’s authors. Kiddos can find a spot in the reading center or even go on a hunt to find Waldo! Find all your favorites on the Children’s Purple and Green Stages, including Kate DiCamilloRJ PalacioDav Pilkey, and more. Enjoy a live presentation with your favorites and then stay for a book signing! Find the full children’s lineup online here.

Teens can also expect a day of literary adventure, including a live Poetry Slam at the end of the event. The book festival brings some of the nation’s top youth slam groups, all ready to recite their original poems and “wow” the crowd!
