National Book Festival

This opportunity is over; visit our calendar for up-to-date fun!

More than 70 authors, illustrators, and poets will be at DC’s Walter E. Washington Convention Center on August 12, 2023, for a day full of literary entertainment!

Free and open to the public, the Library of Congress National Book Festival is always a family favorite! Hosted by the Library of Congress, the festival includes author presentations, book launches and signings, discussion panels, and more. Whether fiction, history, poetry, contemporary life, or more, there will be something to do… or read… all day!

Little readers will have plenty of fun, too! They’re invited to meet Library of Congress staff members and enjoy storytelling plus hands-on activities. From games and Braille-based activities to exploring how the Library acquires and catalogs items, the day will be packed with education and fun for the curious-est of kids!

What to dive deeper? You’ll have the opportunity to learn about volunteer programs with the Library and fellowships and grants offered through the Library’s Of the People: Widening the Path project.
