Night Sky Festival

Shenandoah National Park hosts another weekend dedicated to viewing the night skies within its’ scenic and protected space! August 10-12, 2018, visitors a variety are invited to enjoy a variety of activities alongside astronomy experts, park rangers, and more!

Throughout the park, guests will find constellation tours, solarscope, and telescope viewing, Junior Ranger Night Explorer programs, and even hands-on activities. All events are free and offer a unique experience for amateur and novice night sky observers alike.

While Shenandoah National Park may not get as dark as some of the Parks out in the west or the northern United States (check out this info on how dark skies are rated), its high elevation, combined with its relative remoteness from dense urban areas, make the Park a great place to engage in stargazing on the east coast!
