Resources for Women & Families in Need

Every day in our area, thousands of women wonder if and how they can gather the courage and resources to leave an emotional or physically abusive husband or partner. These women may have huge lapses in their resumes due to motherhood or may have never held a job of their own. They may be new to this country. They may be miles from family. Fortunately, help is very near by

With a network of government agencies and non-profit organizations, any woman can get the help she needs to make the best decisions for herself and her children. While it’s impossible to cover all the services offered in one short post, below is a listing of some of the most extensive organizations in our area. These organizations offer everything from an emergency shelter for women fleeing unsafe situations, to job training for women looking to establish self-sufficiency, to legal advice, counseling and therapy, and even health care, food, and other basic needs.

All of the following organization offer safe, confidential, and in some cases completely anonymous services.
