Scout Night Sky Festival

This event has passed, but check out our calendar for fun today, this week, this month!

Scouts of all ages are invited to view outer space through a telescope, listen to ancient stories about the constellations ’round the campfire, take a guided tour of the night sky, and participate in hands-on activities at the Scout Night Sky Festival.

At Riverbend Park on January 28, 2016, kids and leaders will also learn the phases of the moon and how to use a star chart. And to warm you a bit, hot chocolate and snacks will be available for purchase.

Riverbend Park, located in Great Falls, VA, boasts over 400 acres of forest, meadows, and ponds. The park also has over 10 miles of hiking trails, including a 2.5-mile portion of the Potomac Heritage Trail — a 710-mile trail linking the Potomac and upper Ohio river basins, that follows the paths explored by George Washington. The Visitor Center has self-guided activities for children, live animal displays, public restrooms, and more. If you can’t make the special event above, then join them for future programming and events.

Riverbend Park, part of the Fairfax County Park Authority, is located at 8700 Potomac Hills St., Great Falls, VA 22066.
