Smithsonian Folklife Festival

Calendar > July Events

Fifty years strong, the Smithsonian Folklife Festival returns to Washington, DC for two weeks of education and fun, June 29-July 4 & July 6-9, 2017! Produced by the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, the festival celebrates and honors contemporary living cultural traditions and the individuals and groups who practice them.

Free for all ages, the festival includes participants from all over the world and invites attendees to join in with singing, dancing, crafting, and so much more! This year, the festival also offers a unique focus on the history of American circus arts, including discussion, behind-the-scenes adventure, and plenty of performances, too!
