City of Fairfax’s Independence Day Parade & Celebration

This event has passed, but check out our calendar for fun today, this week, this month!

The City of Fairfax comes alive for its annual Independence Day Celebration! Head into downtown and kick off July 4, 2019, with a parade, followed by plenty of family- and kid-friendly activities.

Parade
The parade has developed into the largest in the Commonwealth of Virginia and has all the requisite ingredients for the 4th of July, including marching bands, floats, Shriners’ little cars and big motorcycles, old fire engines, clowns, and more. The parade is followed by an Old-Fashioned Fireman’s Day, in which area fire companies compete. Learn more, including the parade route, parking, and directions.

Fireworks
End your day with live entertainment and fireworks show at Fairfax High School! Beginning at 6:30 pm, enjoy children’s activities, including inflatables, face painting, and balloon artists. The Darby Brothers, who perform epic classic rock songs from Journey, Zeppelin, Tom Petty, and many more, then take the stage at 7 pm, followed by fireworks at 9:30 pm! Learn more.
