The National Air & Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA, invites you to their Soar Together Family Day! At this special opportunity for all ages on December 14, 2024, learn all about exciting explosions.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn what an explosion is and why it’s important to air and space. From exciting explosions featured in aerospace to rocket engines, explosions have an exciting history! Plus, meet history makers, try hands-on activities, and more.

Get to know the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center! Commonly known as the Udvar-Hazy Center, this Smithsonian museum is the second location of the National Air & Space Museum. Like its sister museum, the Udvar-Hazy Center showcases the history and science of aviation, spaceflight, planetary science, and terrestrial geology/geophysics.

Currently, on display, visitors can see almost 2,000 aviation artifacts, 900+ space artifacts, and more than 100 art displays! Featuring two aviation hangars, artifact highlights include the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird (the fastest jet in the world), the Boeing Dash 80 (the prototype of the 707 airliner), the space shuttle Discovery, the Mars Pathfinder Lander prototype, and more!
