Free Parent Seminar: Positive Discipline

This event has passed, but check out our calendar for fun today, this week, this month!

As parents, we know that disciplining our children should be positive, constructive, and rational. However, despite our best intentions, we sometimes find ourselves yelling, fibbing, and even using threats and bribes to shape our children’s behavior. This type of discipline often backfires and reinforces negative behavior…exactly the opposite of our intentions.

You are invited to learn more about Positive Discipline at Montessori of Gainesville’s free Parent Education Seminar and Open House.

On January 18, 2020, 9:30-11:30 am, join them as they host Dr. Rene Hackney, a recognized parenting expert and child development specialist. The workshop goal is to get you comfortable with a variety of techniques and then learn how to flexibly use them based on your child and situation.

Dr. Rene will present the concept of Positive Discipline, including:

• How can you discipline while also being kind, firm, and respectful?
• What are alternatives to the word “no?”
• How should you handle tantrums, whining, and power struggles?
