Happy New Year! I am not sure where 2018 went, but here we are entering a new year again. This is the time of year where everyone decides to make all kind of resolutions – from the simple idea of taking your lunch to work every day instead of buying it, to the more aggressive plan to lose 50 pounds. Making a resolution is actually a pretty great way to finally accomplish something you have wanted to do for a long time. Let’s be honest though, most people give up on the resolutions by about mid-February or so. This is most obvious by looking at gym attendance numbers the first couple weeks of the year versus a month or two later.
Resolutions should be challenging but attainable, and something that you can realistically fit into your schedule and budget. An example of such a resolution? Buying a new (or your first) home. This is actually more possible than many people think — and can actually save you money vs. renting. If you are even thinking about a move this year, start now! 1. Get Pre-Approved

2. If You Are Selling Your Home, You Want It in Showing Shape
Agents can evaluate your home to see if there are any repairs/renovations they recommend doing to help get top dollar, or if you just need to de-clutter and do some light staging.
3. It’s Always a Good Idea to Go Over Your Wish List for Your New Home
Agents have access to listings that are coming soon, and a network of other agents who can let them know of upcoming properties. If something pops up that checks many of your boxes your agent can let you know immediately, and you can get a jump on the competition — this is especially important with the low inventory of homes for sale we have right now.
4. Successful Agents Have a Sense of the Current Market and an Idea of Where It Is Going
If you are in contact with an agent long before you need to buy/sell, they can work with you to decide the best time to jump into the process to maximize money and minimize disruption to your life.
