Founded in the fall of 2020 as an emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Nova Labs makerschool provides an uncommon, innovative approach to twenty-first-century education! They achieve this by striving toward their vision to create the global innovators, leaders, and makers of the future by offering authentic learning, play, and experimentation opportunities.

Your child is invited to join them this summer for a maker camp like no other! Whether they’re a budding hobbyist, tinkerer, engineer, artesian, or entrepreneur, Nova Labs makerschool has a camp for them!

Summer 2022 opportunities include more than 20 weekly camps to choose from:


YOUNG MAKERS
At Young Maker camps, for budding makers in Kindergarten-3rd grade, their days will be filled with hands-on fun and include opportunities for literacy, math, outdoor time, and social activities!


Become a LEGO Master Builder
June 21-24, 2022

This camp is all about LEGO worlds — amusement parks, space exploration, and superhero cities. Your child will become a master builder and learn basic mechanics with LEGO BricQ and LEGO WeDo sets. Click to register.


Become a Junkyard Maker
June 27-July 1, 2022

In this camp, kids will learn to use recycled materials to create clunking, clanking, and banging toys, whizzbangs, and machinations! Click to register.


Become an Artist
July 5-8, 2022

This camp will focus on capturing the great outdoors on the canvas — the perfect fit for your favorite budding Bob Ross! Plus, during this camp, kids will enjoy a variety of walking field trips too! Click to register.


Become a Monster Maker
July 11-15, 2022

Perfect for the young dreamers in your world, students will create their own stuffed best friends at this camp. Will it be a stuffed dog, a video game character, or maybe even a monster? Click to register.


Become an Aeronaut
July 18-22, 2022

Take to the skies with this week’s theme! With a focus on flight, campers will have the chance to develop airplanes, water rockets, and more! Click to register.


Become a Wizard
July 25-29, 2022

Campers will learn the ins and outs of the wizarding world, including the chance to make their own potions, slimes, and wands! This will be a great week of magic, crafting, and storytelling! Click to register.


KID MAKERS
At Kid Maker camps, for makers in 4th through 6th-grade, their days will be filled with hands-on fun and include opportunities for literacy, math, outdoor time, and social activities!


Eco-Engineering Challenges
June 21-24, 2022

Campers will design, build, and tinker their way through several challenges to help the local environment! For example, kids will design the best fan for a windmill, build solar-powered cars, and participate in the famous Nova Labs Egg Drop! Click to register.


Young Engineers in the Workshop
June 21-24, 2022
July 11-15, 2022

This camp is geared toward young makers — toward kids who always end up in Grandpa’s garage with a wrench in their hand! Campers will build a variety of projects, such as a gumball machine, laser engraved trophies, and more!


Constructing Mars
June 27-July 1, 2022

Your child will design and build a Martian Colony in this camp, including designing a rover on computers, building a spaceship, and modeling a colony. Click to register.


Micro-Pets with Micro:bits
July 5-8, 2022

Campers use design, build, and program behaviors for their own special best friend using Micro:bit. Will your student come home with a pet rock, a new robot dog, a robot, or maybe a Kraken? Only they will know! Click to register.


Bridges & Castles
July 11-15, 2022

Does your young maker dream of days gone by when there were castles to defend, rivers to cross, and bridges to raise? This camp that mixes fantasy with civil engineering will give campers the chance to build catapults and trebuchets, bridges, castles, and more. Raise the ramparts, defend the walls! Survivalist Edition
July 18-22, 2022

This camp focuses on the outdoor crafts of survivalists! Campers will learn to lash sticks together to build structures, create paracord bracelets and belts, and even learn to use a pocket knife. Plus, all prototypes will be tested with walking field trips to local parks. Click to register.


Digital Storytelling
July 25-29, 2022

Campers will write, illustrate, and animate their own stories while learning various creative areas! Starting with literature and writing a short story, kids will quickly move to photography and illustration and end with animation and the basic operation of a digital visual effects and compositing application (Adobe After Effects). TEEN MAKERS


Woodworking & Metalworking
July 5-8, 2022
July 25-29, 2022

Go from 80 to 220-grit at this boot camp for budding makers! Teens will learn to safely use woodworking and metalworking equipment to make beautiful, functional objects, from cutting boards to furniture to art. Taught by experienced educator-makers, this is the premier camp for teens to learn wood and metal shop skills.


Introduction to Graphic Arts & Photo Tinkering

At this specialized boot camp for the digital content creator, campers will develop their digital skills in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop — professional tools to get professional results!


Fine Arts Bootcamp
June 27-July 1, 2022
July 18-22, 2022

Taught by experienced artist-educators, teen artists will learn the foundation of drawing, painting, jewelry-making, and more! This camp experience is never the same twice!


Makers on Fire
June 27-July 1, 2022
July 18-22, 2022

Campers will learn to be all-star makers! Focusing on learning foundational maker skills, including computer-aided design, laser cutter, retro computer gaming, and 3D printing, your tour teen will be the swiss-army knife of young makers!


Movie-Making: Lights, Camera, & Editing
July 5-8, 2022

At this camp, young content creators will learn the hows and whys of online content creation, and most importantly, the skills to stay safe. In an increasingly digital world, this course will help your teen develop their filmmaking and narrative skillset while also sharpening their critical thinking skills and awareness regarding digital and social media use.
