This year, National Harbor will be joining the Washington, DC, region in the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival, which celebrates spring, the gift of the cherry blossom trees, and the enduring friendship between the people of the United States and Japan. On April 14, 2019, National Harbor will share authentic Japanese Cherry Blossom bloom traditions at the annual Sakura Sunday event, an official participating event of the 2019 National Cherry Blossom Festival, in the Waterfront District.

Sakura Sunday will feature a wide array of free activities, including traditional Japanese picnicking with food available for sale; a Saki, Rosé, and Beer Garden; a Japanese Market; and Japanese-inspired music and entertainment. National Harbor is partnering with the Japan-American Society of Washington, DC, to bring in world-class Japanese entertainment and Japanese artisans.
