Looking for some ways to soak up the sun while splashing in the water this summer? NOVA is home to many spraygrounds (aka splash pads), all guaranteed to help you cool off without having to travel to the beach!

Fairfax County


Potomac Yard Park Interactive Fountain[6]
Located between the two playgrounds, the Potomac Yard Park Interactive Fountain features thirty-six water jets, including twelve laminar jets which shoot a stream of water between two troughs and lighting at the jets for nighttime effects. The fountain offers three programmable sequences, and sensors control the water jet height based on the wind speed in the area adjusting the jets accordingly. For added public safety, the fountain features a secondary ultraviolet water treatment system.

Great Waves Waterpark[7]
Splash into a summer of memories at Great Waves Waterpark! Located inside Cameron Run Regional Park, Great Waves features a giant splash pad, tube slides, and a massive wave pool perfect for body surfing. There are plenty of ways to soak up endless hours of fun!

Atlantis Waterpark[8]
Swim, splash, and soak up summer at Atlantis Waterpark! With tons of fun features, great food, and activities, this “lost” island subcontinent-themed park is perfect for water lovers of all ages! Located inside Bull Run Regional Park, visitors will discover Greek architecture, mermaids, and more amongst a 1,000-gallon dumping bucket, 230-foot open slide, and waterfall!


Interactive Fountains at Fairfax Corners[9]
After a day of shopping, splash and play in the interactive fountain at Fairfax Corners! Sponsored by Inova Children’s Hospital, this free fountain can be found amongst the shops and restaurants in the Fairfax Corners shopping district!

Old Town Square Interactive Fountains[10]
Old Town Square, situated adjacent to the historic Old Town Hall in the heart of Old Town Fairfax, features a splash pad as well as a cascade water feature. Located near the Kitty-Pozer and Mary McCandlish Memorial Gardens, this new park has become a place for the community to gather for concerts and entertainment events.

Fountains at Mosaic District[11]
The Mosaic District fountains are a super, and free, destination after a day of shopping or film watching! Located within a great family-friendly venue, families can enjoy dining at one of the many available restaurants or take advantage of some of the many events that the Mosaic District has to offer!


Our Special Harbor Spray Park[12]
Travel over to Lee District Park and enjoy the Chesapeake Bay-themed sprayground full of unique water structures, such as a computerized water maze and dumping crab basket! Get soaked by the spraying osprey nest or sea serpent and then visit the beach area for some water table fun! While general admission is free, paid daily admission is required for commercial and nonprofit groups. Please visit the website for rules regarding water shoes.

Pirate’s Cove Waterpark[13]
Treasures, sun, and sand await ye’ mateys at Pirate’s Cove Waterpark! As the largest pirate-themed waterpark in Lorton, VA, visitors will discover kid-friendly water slides and a 300-gallon dumping bucket among water spraying palm trees! Located inside Pohick Bay Regional Park, Pirate’s Cove also features a tot pool for the littlest of pirates and the enticing “Buccaneer Beach,” a great place to dig for treasure and relax!


Fountain at Lake Anne Plaza[14]
Technically, guests aren’t allowed in the fountain. However, go there on any sunny day and you’ll see it filled with giggling, wet children — and even a few dogs. Use at your own risk!

Fountains at Reston Town Center[15]
Jump through the free splash park at Reston Town Center to cool off on those hot summer days! Please note, Reston Town Center no longer offers free parking (except on weekends).

Spray & Play at Dogwood Picnic Pavillion[16]
Free and open to the community, enjoy cooling off in this mosaic-clad fountain, a commissioned public artwork.

Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole[17]
At the center of this old-west-themed park, surrounded by tubing on Rattlesnake River, is Pete’s Craggy Mountain boasting multi-story water slides. In the open swim area, there are plenty of water creatures to climb on and Tenderfoot Pond is perfect for the smallest explorers with its pint-sized slides and gentle fountains.

Loudoun County


Fountains at The Plaza at One Loudoun[18]
Soak up the sun in a splash fountain on The Plaza at One Loudoun! Found in this newer shopping and dining destination, these fountains are a great, and free, place for the kiddos to play! Kids and adults will also find some high-tech outdoor games to enjoy when they’re not splish-splashin’ away!

District Park Splash Pad at Loudoun Station[19]
Kids and kids at heart will enjoy cooling off at this interactive splash fountain! While there, enjoy Loudoun Station’s playground and large lawn perfect for picnics. Plus, on select nights, enjoy live entertainment on their outdoor canopied stage with amphitheater seating.


Fountains at Lansdowne Town Center[20]
Free and open to the public, the fountains at Lansdowne Towne Center are a great spot to spend the day! Pack a lunch or visit one of the nearby restaurants and soak up the sun while splashing in the water!

Fountains at the Village at Leesburg[21]
Village Plaza boasts a pop-up fountain, as well as bubble shows to entertain and delight! Don’t forget to stop by Rita’s to enjoy a fabulous Italian Ice or one of their other specialties after splashing in the fountains or spending some time at the children’s play area!

Franklin Park Pool[22]
Find plenty of fun in the sun as you soak up summer at the Franklin Park Pool! This outdoor water destination is ideal for families with littles of all ages as it not only features a large lap pool, but child-friendly areas, too. Get soaked under the spraying mushroom, slip on down the waterslide, and try your luck hopping across green floating lily pads or logs! Don’t miss the new Franklin Park Splash Pad, which can be found within the Franklin Park Pool grounds. This additional water feature boasts a fun farmhouse theme, with spraying sunflowers, frogs, fish, and more!


Splash Pad at Cascades Overlook[23]
This modest splash pad is in the heart of Cascades Overlook, on the plaza. Perfect for cooling off, kids and parents alike will also enjoy plaza activities like giant Jenga, corn hole, and more!

Discover paradise among tropical foliage, grass hats, and a mighty waterpark volcano at Volcano Island Waterpark! Located inside Algonkian Regional Park, visitors of all ages will find tons of ways to cool down and soak up summer! Multiple slides, including a 230-foot open, 170-foot closed, and even a tree stump slide, means fun for guests of all ages!

Sprayground at Lyon Village Park [30]
Dumping buckets and colorful splash pads make up this fantastic and free sprayground in Arlington! Pack a picnic lunch, grab some water gear, and spend the day in this fantastic outdoor destination! Please note that there are no restrooms available at this sprayground.

Sprayground at Hayes Park [31]
Head on into Arlington for some free splish-splash fun at the Hayes Park space-themed sprayground! This shady, three-acre park also includes tennis and basketball courts and playgrounds for kids of various ages.

Sprayground at Drew Park[32]
Visit the free sprayground at Drew Park to cool down in the summer heat! With a variety of unique sprayers, such as an umbrella and tunnel sprayer, it’s time to grab some water shoes and get ready for a fun day of outdoor play! This sprayground is conveniently located next to basketball courts, softball fields, and a playground, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy! Please note that restrooms are only available when Drew Community Center is open.

Sprayground at Virginia Highlands Park[33]
Dumping buckets and fun spraying structures are sure to delight children of all ages at the colorful sprayground found in Virginia Highlands Park! Located next to baseball fields, tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts, the whole family can plan to spend the entire day soaking up the sun!
