Home to a unique collection of herbal botanicals, archival materials, and various medical equipment, the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum has a rich history dating back to 1805! At the museum, visitors will find journals, letters, and books concerning notable customers such as Martha Washington and Nelly Custis inside! Plus, the Apothecary Museum also hosts great events for local troops and groups!
For troops looking to learn a bit about the pharmaceutical business practices of the past, and get their hands into some science, the apothecary’s “Potions and Lotions” or “Mad Science!” programs might be just right! Groups will have an opportunity to go on a tour of the museum and then either make their own hand lotion to take home, or engage in some hands-on experiences with the Museum’s very own mad scientist!
For more information on these events, including pricing, contact details, and other special offerings throughout the year, click here. The Apothecary Museum is located at 105 S. Fairfax St., Alexandria, VA 22314.
