The Herndon Parks & Recreation Department always has something exciting going on! Committed to enriching the lives of its’ residents, the Parks & Recreation Department oversees multiple facilities, which offer plenty of parks, activities, and opportunities for children and adults of all ages. Join an event, take a class, or play a game this year within your own community.

This summer, take a look at the department’s huge variety of Summer Camps, ideal for children and teens looking for the chance to make new friends, improve or learn new skills, and so much more! Each camp is guaranteed to entertain, excite, and enrich your child’s summer! Plus, camps are open to non-Town of Herndon residents and are offered in full-, half-, and even partial-day options, making scheduling a breeze.

2019 camps include:

Herndon Odyssey (Ages 6-11)
Herndon Odyssey Camp is the place to make wonderful summer memories, new friendships, and more! Each themed-week offers campers a chance to explore nature, play sports, and participate in other team-building activities. This camp includes a variety of age-appropriate field trips as well as an Early Bird option for campers needing before-care, too.

Teen Discovery (Ages 12-15)
Teenagers will spend two weeks with friends, new and old, all while traveling to summer hot spots! Each session includes travel to different locations like Kings Dominion, Rebounderz, and more! Teens enrolled in these sessions should be responsible, independent, and demonstrate good judgment.

Counselor in Training (Ages 13-15)
Counselor in Training camp provides teens with an opportunity to shadow Herndon camp counselors while developing their own skills to become effective counselors themselves! Teens will learn the ins and outs of becoming a counselor at both the Herndon Odyssey and Gymnastics camps.

Storybook Dance Camps (Ages 4-12)
Herndon Parks and Recreation is offering plenty of opportunities to explore various dance styles this summer! From classical to modern and everything in between, dancers will enjoy themes like Power Princess, Fancy Nancy, Safari, and more. Dance camps include:

Classical Ballets/Dancing Princess
Fancy Nancy
Power Princess
Safari/Lion King
Super Hero

Gymnastics & Cheerleading Camps (Ages 4-15)
Budding athletes and advanced gymnasts will learn the new skills and perfect elements of movement and tumbling during these camps! Be ready to play games and work on large motor coordination through a variety of activities. Gymnastics camps include:

Gymnastics
Munchkateers
Tumbling
Cheerleading

Sports Camps (Ages 4-12)
Whether you’re looking to develop skills in a single sport or experience a variety of sports and activities, Herndon Parks and Recreation has something for everyone. Soccer, basketball, and tennis camps offer athletes an opportunity to learn the basics or excel in the game! Multi-Sport Camp includes various sports, team building activities, and more while athletes learn about teamwork and good sportsmanship. Sports camps include:

Engineering with LEGO Camps (Ages 5-11)
Engineering is way more fun with LEGO and Play-Well TEKnologies! These LEGO-packed camps will allow little engineers opportunities to design, build, and explore under the guidance of an experienced instructor. Camps include:

Intro to STEM
STEM Challenge
Ninjaneering

Preschool Play Camps (Ages 3-5)
Weeks full of arts and crafts, music, games, and more await the littlest campers at Preschool Play Camps! Explore sea creatures, space, and dinosaurs or take a camp dedicated to finger painting, chalk, and the fine arts.

Nature Explorers Camps (Ages 5-8)
Camps will be immersed in nature with hands-on activities, outdoor learning, and so much more during Nature Explorers Camp! Each week is dedicated to a different theme like recycling, gardening, life cycles, animals, and even outdoor living.
