Visit a Full-Size Replica Ship: The Santa María

This event has passed, but check out our calendar for fun today, this week, this month!

The Wharf, a waterfront destination in Washington, DC, is home to the Santa María, a faithful replica of the Spanish galleons used in the time of Columbus!

Built in Spain in the tradition of the nao ships of the sixteenth-century, this vessel weighs 200 tons and is nearly 100-feet long. Visit select days until November 17, 2019 (weather permitting) and enjoy a self-guided tour through the ship’s four decks, where you’ll find informative panels about its history and ornamental elements of the period, and have the chance to talk with the crew to learn more about the lives of Spanish sailors 500 years ago.
