By Dullesmoms, May 2021

Did you know nearly 20 million people have visited the National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center since they opened in 2003?! Commonly known as the Udvar-Hazy Center, this Smithsonian museum is the second location of the National Air and Space Museum (the original of which is located on the National Mall in Washington, DC).

After a multi-month closure, the Udvar-Hazy Center is open once again! To ensure everyone’s safety, each visitor must reserve a free timed-entry pass (available in half-hour increments 10 am-4:3o pm; click here to reserve yours) and follow important safety requirements (see them here).

Admission is free, while parking is free after 4 pm.

Please note, due to ongoing construction to repair the Boeing Aviation Hangar roof, some parts of the Udvar-Hazy Center will not be available during your visit; click here for a list of what will be available.

What is the Udvar-Hazy Center? Part of the Smithsonian family, the Udvar-Hazy Center is a great place for aerial enthusiasts or anyone interested in exploring anything that has to do with air and space! Like its sister museum, the Udvar-Hazy Center showcases the history and science of aviation and spaceflight, as well as planetary science and terrestrial geology/geophysics.

Its two huge hangars display thousands of aviation and space artifacts, including a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, a Concorde, and the Space Shuttle Discovery! The museum also boasts an IMAX Theater and an observation tower that gives visitors a 360-degree bird’s-eye view of Dulles International Airport and the surrounding area.

The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center is located at 14390 Air & Space Museum Pkwy., Chantilly, VA 20151.
