Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) will be launching the Jumpstart program again in the summer of 2022!

Graduating seniors with schools that NOVA already has a dual enrollment agreement with will be eligible to take two free courses at NOVA during the summer semester. Students can take NOVA’s 1-credit Student Development course, in addition to one 3-credit course of their choice.

The application window for the Jumpstart program is open now, with applications due by 5 pm, on April 29, 2022. The courses will be offered in a 10-week semester format and will run from May 31, 2022, to August 8, 2022. All course offerings will be conducted via online asynchronous instruction.

The program provides the opportunity for high school students graduating from public, private, or home school this year, to get a start on their college career while removing the barrier of costs to general education requirements.

Upon completion of the JumpStart application process, which includes applying to NOVA, completing their JumpStart application, and uploading eligibility requirements, local high school students can start earning college credits. For students under 18, a parent or legal guardian’s permission will be needed to register.

Eligibility requirements for the Jumpstart program require that most high school seniors should have a 3.0 GPA and reside in NOVA’s service area. Students can supplement the GPA requirement with math and English scores from college preparatory performance tests such as the; PSAT, SAT, or ACT. Only students from current NOVA partnership schools with dual enrollment programs already in place will be considered.
