Family Day & Outdoor Aviation Display

The National Air and Space Museum proudly presents its annual Family Day and Outdoor Aviation Display at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center on June 15, 2019!

Families are invited to explore the engineering and design innovations that have taken place during the last century of flight at this special outdoor event featuring automobiles and more than 50 vintage, recreational, and home-built aircraft! Speak with a pilot, sit in the cockpit, and discover the science behind flight through hands-on, STEM-based activities. There will be a Tot Zone for the littlest pilots, discovery stations, a virtual sandbox, a paper airplane contest, and so much more.

Guests should note that Innovations in Flight is one of the museum’s most attended event. Plan accordingly for parking and security screening. Admission is free; however, parking is $15.

The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, a Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, has the world’s largest collection of flight and space exploration artifacts, encompassing everything from pirate ships and first airplanes to rockets and moon shuttles! The museum features many year-round educational activities, presentations, and performances.
