The National Air & Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA, invites you to their Family Day!
On May 4, 2024, families are invited to explore how and why spacesuits were made the way they were, how their design changed over time, and what spacesuits will look like for future astronauts.
At this special event, meet Jean Wright, a NASA seamstress, Christine Jerome, a NASA spacesuit engineer, and Cathleen Lewis, a Museum curator who’s an expert on spacesuits. Even better? Get up close to real spacesuits — examine gloves, boots, and more and learn how they protect astronauts.
Plus, hear from authors and little ones are invited to listen to a special storytime with them. Kids and adults alike can meet Jennifer Swanson, author of Spacecare: A Kid’s Guide to Surviving Space, and Elise Matich, author of Sew Sister.
