The Smithsonian’s National Zoo is getting ready to reopen to visitors!

Beginning May 21, 2021, with a free timed entry pass (must be reserved in advance), you’ll have the chance to enjoy one of the oldest zoos in the United States!

This 163-acre park includes 2,700 animals, representing more than 390 species. Xiao Qi Ji, the Zoo’s giant panda cub, is one of several animals making their debut at the Zoo. In the coming weeks, the National Zoo will be updating its website with detailed information on how to view Xiao Qi Ji. To maintain social distancing, visitation will be limited and require a separate free timed-entry pass, which visitors can obtain onsite.

Other new animal faces include Przewalski’s horse mother-son duo, Barbie and Cooper, and Komodo dragon juvenile Onyx. Plus, reconnect with other animals who arrived within the last year, including American bison Lucy and Gally, California sea lion Charger, North American beaver Poplar, and Andean bear Brienne.

Beginning May 14, 2021, reserve your timed entry passes online (link below).
