Come join in the fun at the 37th Annual Herndon Festival! During this four-day outdoor festival, June 1-4, 2017, the Historic Downtown District of Herndon will come alive with events and activities perfect for the entire family. Whether you’re looking for live entertainment, carnival games, rides, or races, the Herndon Festival offers you the best in family fun!
If traditional carnival fanfare is what you’re after, then you won’t want to miss the Carnival. Open all four days of the festival, the carnival will feature over a dozen adventurous rides for children of all ages as well as games with fantastic prizes.
To enter the carnival area, visitors will need to purchase a minimum of $5 in ride tickets each day, with exceptions granted for parents who are accompanying their children.
Just for Kids
The Herndon Festival will also host an area just for kids on Saturday and Sunday, offering little ones the perfect weekend destination! At the Children’s Hands-On Art tent, found in the Kids’ Alley on Station and Lynn Streets, kids can create and decorate their own musical instrument, animal pals, a paper lantern, or mobile! Enjoy face painting and more than a dozen unique crafts, alongside roaming entertainers! Although it’s not “just” for kids, don’t forget to check out the model train display presented by the Washington, Virginia, and Maryland Garden Railway Society. This intricate garden train display can be found next to the Depot Stage and runs on Saturday and Sunday.
Both children and adults can find free, live entertainment across four stages throughout each day of the Festival in addition to fireworks on select evenings! Check out the entertainment schedule here and get your ears ready for the delicious sounds of JUXT, Crowded Streets: The Dave Matthews Band Experience, Shane Gimble, and more!
Kiddos will also enjoy The Monkey Man or Michael Horne, found in the Kids’ Alley just for them. Plus, when the concerts end on Thursday, June 1 and Saturday, June 3, 2017, stick around for a grand fireworks display beginning at 9:30 pm. With viewing available from anywhere on the festival grounds, the nighttime show is a great way to end the evening!
10K & 5K Race
Sunday morning kicks off with 10K and 5K races through Historic Downtown Herndon. Awards will be given to the two top finishers from each age group from the 10 & under, to 70 & over. Following the race, participants will enjoy refreshments, door prizes, music, and the awards ceremony. Be one of the first 800 preregistered race participants and receive a free t-shirt.
