Beginning October 21, 2023, National Harbor brings one of history’s most famous ships — the RMS Titanic — to life in an immersive, touching experience.
This exhibition isn’t merely a display of historical artifacts. Instead, it crafts a compelling narrative about the individuals aboard during its inaugural and tragic voyage that carried 2,240 passengers and crew from Southampton, England, to its ultimate resting place in the North Atlantic Ocean. After striking an iceberg on its maiden voyage, the RMS Titanic sank in less than 3 hours, taking with it the lives of more than 1,500 people.
As visitors delve into 1912, they encounter photographs and more than 200 original items, including handwritten notes, cherished mementos, and more — each weaving a tale of heroism, fate, and the human spirit. By listening to the testimonies of Titanic passengers and crew (through an audio-guided experience) and examining their personal effects, visitors can truly grasp their individual stories.
The exhibit also boasts meticulously crafted life-sized replicas of the RMS Titanic’s interiors. In the early 1900s, it was the most luxurious passenger ship of its time! At the exhibit, see the grandeur of a first-class suite and the simplicity of a third-class cabin.
A visit to this unique destination averages about 1 hour and 30 minutes; advanced ticket purchase is required.
