On July 11, 2026, the Obon Festival returns to Ekoji Buddhist Temple. Families and friends of all backgrounds are invited to this popular summer event celebrating Japanese culture.

You’ll find traditional Japanese “Bon” dancing, performances by Nen Daiko and youth taiko group Dounen, kids’ games and activities, temple tours, specialty foods, desserts, and vendor and artisan booths. The menu features favorites like Spam Musubi, Chirashizushi, Somen, Shave Ice, and more.

As the evening winds down, stay for the moving candlelight ceremony, where the beautiful Japanese garden fills with hundreds of candles representing departed loved ones.
