As part of the Library’s America 250 commemoration, October’s Family Day honors Founding Father Benjamin Franklin. On October 17, 2026, make a simple electrical circuit and explore collections related to his many achievements as a printer, businessman, diplomat, and scientist.

Staff from the Science and Business Reading Room will highlight Benjamin Franklin’s commercial ventures. Learn about 18th-century printing from experts in the Rare Book and Special Collections Division, and try out the Library’s replica printing press. Ben Franklin himself will join the program to talk about his life and work.

The activities will be held in the Great Hall (2nd Floor) of the Jefferson Building. While the event is free, tickets are required (link below).
