Fairfax History Day returns to Historic Blenheim with fun for the whole family on April 23, 2022!

This special event celebrates Fairfax area history throughout the 19th-century, including the construction and use of the Fairfax County Courthouse, the founding of the Town of Providence, and a cross-section of life, events, and activities represented by living history performers.

A few highlights include:

Living History Highlights
• Hear a tavern keeper’s tales about attorneys, judges, clients, and travelers
• A blacksmith, a carpenter, and a mason demonstrate their trades
• A spinner and a weaver show their skills, while needle-workers teach and offer “try-its” and make-and-take projects
• See War of 1812 soldiers and encampments, and speak with Federal and Confederate troops

Displays & Activities
•  See logs from the “corduroy road” from Ox Road, and learn about railroad transportation, road history, and construction techniques
•  Use a quill pen and ink to sign your muster roll with the Chesapeake Independent Blues
• Join a boot camp and drill with wooden rifles, and watch coffee, hardtack, and Johnny cakes being made over the campfire

Please note, parking will not be allowed at Historic Blenheim; a free, accessible shuttle will run from Fairfax High School throughout the day
