On July 19, 2023, rev up your engines for GM Day at the National Children’s Museum (NCM)!
More than all the fun this playful indoor family destination boasts, this special day will offer a special car display and hands-on engineering activities:
• Swing by the Woodrow Wilson Plaza, located just outside the Museum’s main entrance, for an exciting opportunity to hop into the driver’s seat of a Chevrolet Corvette, GMC Hummer EV, and GMC Sierra! Chat it up with knowledgeable vehicle experts who are ready to tackle any questions you have.
• Get your creative gears turning at the on-the-go-go racetrack, where you can dive into the world of car engineering with the guidance of GM engineers who specialize in sustainability strategies, accessibility, and autonomous vehicles! Experience the design process employed by GM engineers as they bring new cars to life: brainstorm your idea, build it, put it to the test, and then find ways to make it even better.
• Unleash your imagination in the Tinkerers Studio as you conjure up a wind-powered vehicle using materials you discover, and put it through the ultimate test on various terrains. Collaborate side by side with GM engineers to refine your designs and watch your creations soar.
Get to know the National Children’s Museum! NCM offers a wide variety of touch-and-play activities, exhibits, and experiences centered around science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Explore their permanent and visiting exhibits online (map of exhibits): Where will you visit first?!
Children are invited to make their way up the NCM’s three-story climber and then zip down a slide!
This immersive experience gives kids a chance to interact in real-time with fun digital wall projections!
Art + Tech
The art and tech nook allows kids to touch, play, and explore STEM principles with not only new friends but also favorite characters like the Paw Patrol pups and more!
Data Science Alley
Kids won’t know they’re discovering how data points are collected and aggregated — but they’ll know something really cool going on as they send pom-poms soaring through tubes pushed by gusts of air!
Infants and toddlers will love this free-movement space just for them!
Engineering Games + Play
Kids will discover how engineering and play go hand-in-hand as they design, build, and send vehicles down a track, shoot a basketball, or score a home run!
Curious George: Let’s Get Curious! (May 27-Sept 4, 2023)
Young learners will engage in hands-on math, science, and engineering activities modeled after Curious George’s many adventures! From the farm to a construction site and even to space, follow Curious George’s lead and practice early STEM concepts to solve a variety of problems.
