Trick-or-treat like it’s 1799! On October 31, 2026, families are invited to Trick-or-Treat at Mount Vernon for an 18th-century Halloween at George Washington’s historic estate!
Grab your special Mount Vernon treat bag (required for collecting candy) and wind your way through the historic grounds. Along the route, meet General George Washington and Lady Martha Washington, dig into a pumpkin Discovery Station, say hello to the estate’s livestock, and strike a pose at the straw bale selfie station.
Costume Parade
Little ones are invited to show off their costumes with a parade through the historic area — cameras ready, parents!
Colonial Demonstrations
Watch sparks fly at the blacksmith shop, see how textiles were made at the spinning house, and stop by the 12-Acre Field for apple butter making and fresh bread from an 18th-century bake oven with Justin Cherry of Half Crown Bakehouse.
Music & Magic on the Bowling Green
Take a break for Music of the Revolution, musical stories with Robert Mouland, and 18th-century magic with Mr. Peter Gardiner.
Kids Eat Free at the Mount Vernon Inn
After trick-or-treating, kids ages 12 and under dine free from the kids’ menu with each adult entree purchased (dine-in only).
