Have you ever wondered how space has inspired art and the people that create it?
At the National Air & Space Museum’s Family Day at the Udvar-Hazy Center, you’re invited to meet the people who create art meant to inspire, interpret, communicate, and spark wonder!
At this special event on November 18, 2023, activities include:
• Demonstrations and hands-on activities
• A community art project
• “Meet an Expert” stations with scientists and artists
• A scavenger hunt exploration of the exhibits
• Exploring how art helps us learn about and understand space
In addition to Family Day activities, enjoy the Center’s two huge hangars filled with thousands of aviation and space artifacts. See a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, a Concorde, and even the Space Shuttle Discovery! In addition, this popular destination boasts an IMAX Theater and an observation tower that gives visitors a 360-degree bird’s eye view of Dulles Airport and the surrounding area.
Admission to this Smithsonian destination is free, while parking is $15 per car.
Can’t make it in person? A virtual Family Day will launch online on November 17, 2023. Activities include storytime, videos, and hands-on demonstrations that learners of all ages can do at home.
