He’s slow, he’s steady, and he’s officially older than the airplane, the Model T, and your great-great-grandmother’s wedding photos. Jethro, Leesburg Animal Park’s beloved Giant Aldabra Tortoise, is turning 119 years young on July 18, 2026, and the park is rolling out the red carpet (well, the green grass) to celebrate!

The party kicks off at noon with the main event – a giant watermelon birthday cake.

In addition to the spectacular watermelon birthday cake crafted by the park’s keepers, visitors will enjoy live music, a sing-along (12:30 pm sharp!), and photo opportunities with the birthday boy himself. Plus, surprise guests will be stopping by to wish Jethro well!

The birthday party is free with regular park admission, and no advance RSVP is required.
