Potomac Waterfront Festival @ Alexandria Waterfront

Jun 12, 2026 @ 12:00 pm-6:00 pm

Alexandria is marking America’s 250th anniversary in a big way! Sails on the Potomac is transforming Alexandria’s waterfront into a landmark three-day festival from June 12-14, 2026!

Celebrating the city’s unique role in the founding of our nation — from the creation of the Fairfax Resolves to being the hometown of George Washington, each day brings public tours of four historic tall ships — the Kalmar Nyckel, Sultana, Providence, and Gazela — plus live music presented by ALX Jazz Fest, family activities, historic exhibits, food and drink vendors, arts activities, and educational programs throughout the waterfront. Saturday evening wraps up with fireworks over the Potomac!

The festival also features the 250th History Village and Outpost — an outdoor exhibit filled with pop-up displays, local organizations, hands-on activities, and historic conversations for all ages. Don’t miss “Now or Never,” a striking public art installation by Alicia Eggert in Waterfront Park, featuring two monumental sculptures that invite visitors to find common ground.
