America’s biggest birthday celebration returns to the National Mall in Washington, DC. On July 4, 2026, the National Park Service presents its annual fireworks spectacular!
This year’s display is expected to be bigger and bolder than ever, with fireworks launching from both sides of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool for an unforgettable red, white, and boom-filled night in the nation’s capital.

This special parade rolls along Constitution Avenue NW with marching bands, giant balloons, floats, military units, and more in a patriotic celebration of America’s birthday!
Operation Independence! Family Scavenger Hunt
Head to the National Park Service information tent near the Sylvan Theater to embark on a scavenger hunt exploring spying techniques from the American Revolution.
Become a Junior Ranger
Kids can become a Junior Ranger! Pick up an activity booklet at any NPS information tent on the Washington Monument grounds, complete the self-guided activities, and return it to a ranger to be sworn in and receive a special Jr. Ranger badge.
Fourth of July Family Fun at the Jefferson Memorial
At the Jefferson Memorial, enjoy trivia, ranger-led story times, and a giant reproduction of the Declaration of Independence, where kids can add their signature.
Ranger Talks
Join a National Park Service ranger for a special talk exploring the remarkable relationship between Thomas Jefferson and John Adams — revolutionary allies, political rivals, and friends to the end.
A Capitol Fourth Concert
Hosted on the West Lawn of the US Capitol, this star-studded Independence Day salute features popular musical artists, the National Symphony Orchestra, and more.
