Hosted on the Fairfax Campus of George Mason Univerity, Mason Jazz Camp is excited to welcome musicians of all levels — instrumental and vocal — who desire to advance their musical artistry and professionalism!

This unique summer opportunity, featuring leading educators and performers in the DMV, offers classes in improvisation, jazz theory, ear training, performance practice (big bands and combos), composition, arranging, and jazz history. Students will even have the opportunity to study and participate in master classes and concerts. Even better? The Guest Artist for Summer 2024 is American Jazz pianist and composer Cyrus Chestnut!

Responsible people of all ages are welcome to attend. Commuter and residential options are available; learn more.

Camp details include:

      8:30 am-4:30 pm
    • Final concert: June 28, 2024
      2-4 pm

A daily schedule might look like this:

• • • 8 am: Check-in starts
    • 8:30 am: Improvisation class
    • 9:30 am: Jazz theory session
    • 10:30 am: Rehearsal for Large Ensemble
    • Noon: Lunch break
    • 1 pm: Instrumental masterclasses with Mason Jazz Faculty
    • 2 pm: Combo rehearsals
    • 3:30 pm: Performance by a professional jazz group
    • 4:30 pm: End of the camp day
