Visitors are invited to kick-off the Smithsonian-wide Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at Smithsonian’s National Zoo! Join them September 24, 2017, for ZooFiesta: Un día de diversión animal para toda la familia, a fun-filled family day boasting free activities, including live music, authentic gourmet cuisine (fee-based), and educational activities about conservation in Central and South America.

Animal keepers will be on-hand hosting talks, feedings, and demonstrations highlighting a variety of animals native to the region, including Andean bears, sloths, golden lion tamarins, Panamanian golden frogs, and more. Plus visitors will have the opportunity to meet zoo scientists who are working to save native species and learn about their research.
