Digital banners (also called display ads, web banners, or online ads) are link-enabled, image-based advertisements that run sitewide and are visible on every device.
- Desktop: Banners appear in a right-hand column alongside the content.
- Tablet: Depending on screen width, banners appear either alongside the content or below it.
- Mobile: Banners appear in a single column below the content.
Banners are dynamic, shifting position from page to page. A banner near the top of one page may appear midway down the next page. The advantage of rotating banners between pages is that top placement is shared rather than owned — every advertiser cycles through the most visible spots, and readers see a fresh arrangement on every page.
