For two days, May 1-2, 2026, you’re invited to journey back in time — more than 200 million years, to be exact — at DinoWalk!
Hosted annually, DinoWalk is your chance to see North America’s largest number of dinosaur footprints! Not only unique to Virginia, but also to the entire continent, the Triassic Period dinosaur footprints were discovered in 1989.
Online passes for DinoWalk go on sale April 4, 2026, but hurry — they sell out almost immediately!
According to the Virginia Museum of Natural History’s Paleontology Lab, “About 2,000 footprints are preserved across a large slab of siltstone. Many footprints are from theropod dinosaurs, with their characteristic three-toed feet.”
While DinoWalk gives you the opportunity to see the largest collection on the continent, the largest in the world is thousands of miles away, all the way in Australia! Their footprints, now exposed on a 50-mile stretch of the western coastline, come from at least 11 (possibly as many as 21) different kinds of dinosaurs.
This special event is made possible through a partnership between the Museum of Culpeper History and Luck Stone Quarry.
