On October 3, 2026, celebrate history, culture, and community at Douglass Legacy Day!

Now in its third year, this heartfelt event honors the legacy of Douglass High School, Loudoun County’s first and only Black high school from 1941 until 1968.

Hosted indoors and outdoors at the Historic Douglass High School Education & Development Campus, this special event offers families a full day of fun and learning, with something for kids and kids-at-heart.

Get creative at guided painting sessions with Healing Through Art, watch chalk artist Penny Hauffe bring the pavement to life, and add a little color with face painting and balloon twisting. Little ones will love the bubble station, lawn games, and the VR mobile theme park, plus an historical bingo and scavenger hunt that turns the campus into a discovery zone.

Throughout the day, don’t miss interactive children’s science shows by Mad Science, an animal and reptile show, and a children’s magic and comedy show. Food trucks and vendors will be on-site, too!
