This winter, lace up and take a spin on the ice beneath the grand architecture of national museums and monuments at the National Gallery of Art’s seasonal ice rink in the Sculpture Garden!

Open November 23-March 7, 2027 (weather permitting), the outdoor rink is ringed by large-scale sculptures, making it a picture-perfect spot for magical winter memories. Don’t have ice skates? No worries — rentals are on hand so everyone can enjoy the fresh air and fun. Plus, free lockers are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Want to build confidence on the ice? Washington Elite Skating School offers group and private skating lessons for all ages and abilities, plus weekday group packages for birthday parties, schools, and other private groups.

Purchase admission in person (space permitting) or online; the rink closes for rain and extreme temperatures, so call ahead to confirm it’s open before you head out.
