Harvest a little history this fall! From October 24-25, 2026, Fall Harvest Family Days invites you to celebrate the crisp autumn season with 18th-century activities and demonstrations at the Farm at Mount Vernon.

Expert interpreters demonstrate soap-making, cooking, laundry, fishing-net making, salting fish, forging metal and horseshoes, and spinning and weaving. - Meet General Washington
Hear George Washington share his experiences as a founding farmer, then visit the Interpretive Center to see the General through the eyes of his family, friends, and hired and enslaved staff. - Meet Farm Animals
Meet horses, oxen, sheep, hogs, and turkeys, and learn about the work they did at harvest time. - Enjoy 18th-Century Games
Try colonial lawn games like Wood Cup & Ball, the Game of Graces, and hoops. - Participate in a Story Time & Scavenger Hunt
Listen to Farmer George Plants a Nation read aloud at the Farm (best for ages 7-12), then grab a scavenger hunt to explore even more. - Witness Revolutionary War Encampment
Step into the daily life of soldiers, officers, and the families who traveled with the army — explore the tents, try washing clothes in the laundry yard, and get hands-on with period cooking tools.
Fall Harvest Family Days is included with general admission; children five and under are always free.
