Enjoy more than a little twinkle and a bit of sparkle at ZooLights — Smithsonian’s annual holiday event! You’re invited to this winter wonderland on select nights from November 21-January 2, 2026!

At this special event, more than 1 million LED lights will transform the Zoo as you stroll along its paths and walkways. Along the way, enjoy more than 100 lantern displays depicting ocean, desert, grassland, rainforest, and polar habitats.

Upgrade your admission for even more fun, including tickets for the Zoo’s carousel, a winter-themed maze, choo choo train rides, and more.

ZooLights will shine on select evenings from November 21, 2025, through January 3, 2026. Visit on most Friday–Sunday nights in November, followed by near-daily openings throughout December, including special Member Nights (Dec 9-11) and an adults-only Date Night (Dec 17).

Please note that ZooLights does not feature the Zoo’s animals, and all indoor animal exhibits will be closed to allow the animals to get a full night’s rest. Entry is fee-based and must be purchased in advance; children over 2 years old must have a ticket. Parking is available at a flat rate.
