Perfect for families, this festival offers an up-close look at modern and historic firefighting equipment, including a stunning 1851 hand-operated suction engine adorned with the company’s iconic clasped-hands insignia.

Enjoy music and craft vendors, as well as food and drinks for sale. Kids will love their free fire helmets just for attending!

The Friendship Fire Company, established in 1774 in Alexandria, VA, holds the distinction of being the city’s first fire company. It played a pivotal role in early fire protection efforts in the community. In 1855, the company built the Friendship Firehouse, which stands as a testament to its historical significance.

Today, the building operates as the Friendship Firehouse Museum, allowing the public to delve into the rich history of firefighting in Alexandria. As mentioned above, the company’s legacy also includes an elaborately decorated 1851 hand-operated suction engine, which features the company’s clasped hands insignia.
