Fireworks With a Presidential View

‹‹ More 4th of July Fun

There may be no more fitting place to celebrate America’s 250th birthday than at George Washington’s Mount Vernon — join them on July 3-4, 2026, for two unforgettable nights along the Potomac River!

The highlight of the evening is a dazzling fireworks display over the Potomac River, available in 3D with rainbow glasses for a stunning, prism-like patriotic effect. Before the show, meet General George Washington himself for an interactive living history experience, and attend a special wreath-laying ceremony at the Washington Tomb — one of the few times this area is open in the evening.

Make a day of it!
On July 4th, check out an American Celebration, a special afternoon at Mount Vernon packed with history, exploration, and more (separate tix req’d).

On the bowling green, enjoy 18th-century dancing demonstrations, blacksmithing, and classic tavern and lawn games, with live musical performances from the Band of the Foreign Legion and the National Concert Band on the east lawn leading up to the fireworks.

Throughout the grounds, explore a Revolutionary War encampment spread across a 12-acre field, where you can step inside soldiers’ tents, try period laundry and cooking activities, and hear from living history interpreters.
