It’s big fun at The Big Dig! Kids (and kids-at-heart) are invited to climb into the driver’s seat and operate some pretty big machinery, like excavators, scissor lifts, and more — all under the guidance of trained construction professionals!
Hosted on October 3, 2026, this special you-touch event will benefit local children and families affected by pediatric cancer. Since 2021, The Big Dig has raised more than $621,000 in the fight against pediatric cancer, and proceeds from this year’s event will fund cancer care initiatives at Inova Children’s Hospital — their exclusive partner. Each general admission ticket includes a lunch item, a drink, a dessert, and a safety vest for every participating child.
Free event parking is available at the Ashburn Recreation Center (21105 Coopers Hawk Dr.), where a designated area has been reserved for Big Dig attendees, and a complimentary shuttle runs continuously to the event entrance. Rain date is October 4, 2026.
