With Braces, How Often Do You See an Orthodontist?

<< More From Barakat Orthodontics

Dear Dr. Barakat,

How often do I have to see the orthodontist while I have braces?

Dear Concerned Parent,

It depends on the type of treatment, but in general, you’re looking at an office visit every 4-8 weeks for the duration of your treatment. Sometimes you can even go ten weeks between visits. These appointments can range from 20-minutes for check-ups and longer appointments for initial and final visits. It is important to stick to the schedule so the doctor can keep an eye on how things are going with the movement of your teeth, jaw growth and development, and oral hygiene.

Dr. Rana Barakat, a board-certified specialist in Orthodontics, has been proudly serving Northern Virginia for more than 20-years! She has built her practice on a personal touch and excellent treatment.

As a parent, she understands wanting the best for your children by giving them beautiful, confident smiles. She makes it a priority to ensure optimal results, but also believes that each patient’s experience during treatment is just as important as the clinical result. As the 2015-16 President of the Virginia Association of Orthodontists, Dr. Barakat’s dedication and expertise reflect why her peers continue to nominate her as a Top Dentist.
