On September 12, 2026, traditions will take center stage at Riverbend Park’s Virginia Native American Festival.

This special event will bring together tribal members from across Virginia to share their culture, history, and living traditions.

Spend the day immersed in performances, demonstrations, and hands-on experiences; meet members of the Pamunkey, Mattaponi, Upper Mattaponi, and Chickahominy tribes; and more:

  • Upper Mattaponi dancing & drumming throughout the day
  • Traditional storytelling & flute performance by Patrick “Littlewolf” Brooks of Five Feathers Productions
  • Shinny demonstrations with the Powhatan Shinny League
  • Archery, dugout canoe demonstrations, & fire-building demonstrations
  • Guided plant walks exploring traditional uses of local plants
  • Live animal presentations
  • Hands-on crafts & activities
  • Native food & artisan vendors
  • Loudoun’s First Farmers — a traveling exhibit from the Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum featuring pottery sherds, stone tools, and projectile points used by generations of Indigenous people

Admission is fee-based — discounted advance tickets available online (advance purchase recommended). Online presale ends at 10 pm the night before the event.
